This pan-fried beef liver with onions recipe will make you like liver and enjoy it, or maybe even crave it. This is how you should make a delicious and palatable beef liver.

    beef liver

Liver is a great source of animal protein, is high in vitamin A, folic acid, iron, and zinc. Liver meats are the most nutrient-dense and should be incorporated in our diet.

My husband started enjoying liver after tasting it in a restaurant. He requested that I replicate it for the health benefits, and I'm glad he asked.

    Why I love this recipe

Palatable: I never used to like liver and I tried many recipes but I couldn't get over the strong smell and the texture. But since I became interested in nutrition and its impact on health, I decided to embark on a journey to find a way to make it palatable. I now have liver most Sundays.

Quick, simple, and easy: It can be made in less than 10 minutes with only a handful of ingredients, and it does not require an outstanding level of cooking skills.

Affordable: Liver is often more affordable than other cuts of meat, making it a budget-friendly protein option.

    Key ingredients

Beef liver: Some people say that beef liver should never be frozen but I really see no issue with it as long as it is completely thawed.

Onions: I prefer yellow onions or shallots ( for a classy restaurant-style flavour).

Garlic: I recommend using fresh garlic.

Parsley: completely optional but it does add a level of freshness to the dish.

    Hanaa's recipe tips

In my opinion, it is best not to overcook liver as the texture gets grainy, which most people don't appreciate, and becomes a total turn off.

The secret to making liver more pleasant to taste is to cut it really small and load it with onions, garlic, spices, and herbs.

    Soaking beef liver

Many beef liver recipes call for soaking it in milk or butter milk beforehand with the aim of reducing that strong metalic beef flavour, you can definitely do that if you have an extra 20 minutes but if you're short on time you can skip it and chop the liver extra small.

What to serve with fried beef liver

You can serve it with my crispy potato salad or my eggplant and tomato dip.

You can also serve it with bread or rice.
