This is the easiest and quickest basic vanilla cake you could bake. You should have all the ingredients on hand most of the time.
This vanilla cake is plain and simple recipe but can be so versatile by adding fruits, chocolate chips, different flavors such as lemon, orange or cinnamon ...etc
You can serve it with ice cream or whipped cream and fresh fruits.
You can also add dried fruits and tweak the recipe a little like I did here with the fruit cake recipe here.
Basic Vanilla Cake
This is a versatile cake base that can be eaten plain or enjoyed with other flavours/toppings
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup milk
- 2 & ½ cups flour
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 16 g baking powder
Instructions
- Pre-heat the oven at 180° and grease a baking tray or cake mold with butter and dust it with flour.
- Crack your eggs, add in sugar and vanilla and whisk for 5 minutes.
- Add the oil and then the milk and whisk until everything is well combined.
- Mix in the flour bit by bit while whisking, add in your salt and the baking powder.
- Pour the cake batter into a cake tray or mold and bake it in the oven for 30 minutes or until a knife comes out dry.
- Let the cake cook and then remove from baking tray and serve.
