    Why I love this recipe

Quick, easy and effortless: Quick because it comes together in under 5 minutes, easy because it only needs two simple ingredients, and effortless because there's no cooking or complicated steps involved.

Healthier alternative: Store bought ranch dressings are not the healthiest, they are filled with additives and preservatives. And cottage cheese is a high protein low fat alternative to sour cream or cream cheese. Making it at home gets you all the nutritional benefits without compromising on the taste. A ¼ cup is about 7 grams of protein.

    Key ingredients

Cottage cheese: I like to use full-fat cottage cheese for my dips because it gives the creamiest dips, but you can swap it for a low-fat or fat-free version if you are in a cutting phase.

Ranch seasoning: You can either use ranch seasoning from the packet or make your own. This time I made my own seasoning with herbs and spices from my pantry. Scroll down for my homemade ranch seasoning recipe.

How to make cottage cheese ranch dip

Picture of a bowl of cottage cheese with a spoonful.

Step 1- Blend the cottage cheese in a blender or food processor until smooth. Pause a couple of times to scrape down the sides, ensuring everything is evenly blended.

Step 2- Add in the ranch seasoning and blend one more time.

Step 3 - Place the ranch dressing in a serving bowl along with your dipping veggies, crackers or your favorite chips.

Homemade ranch seasoning recipe( MSG free)

I prefer to make my homemade ranch seasoning from scratch whenever I am making my ranch dip with cottage cheese because I almost always have all the seasonings on hand. And because I don't want like the overly salty, full of additives and preservatives packet mix.

I have dabbled with different ratios for my homemade ranch seasoning recipe and this is the best spice mix I can share with you:

    • 2 tablespoons dried parsley
    • 1 tablespoon dried dill
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon dried basil
    • 1 teaspoon dried chives
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon pepper

    Hanaa's recipe tips

    • You can adjust the consistency of your 2 ingredient cottage cheese ranch dip by adding a splash of milk or water to it.
    • If the cold dip is too thick, you can either add a teaspoon of ranch dressing or leave it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

    Frequently asked questions

Does this cottage cheese ranch dip taste like the classic?

Yes, I served it to many people and they couldn't tell it was a healthier modified version. The tanginess of the cottage cheese mimics that of the sour cream.

What can I replace cottage cheese with?

The best alternative to cottage cheese is Greek yogurt due to the high protein content.

    Storage instructions

If you're hosting guests and want to make ahead, consider making a double batch. Store the dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. For convenience, you can use the original cottage cheese container to store it.
