This cottage cheese taco dip is a must-try. Creamy and spicy, it’s ready in under 5 minutes. Simple yet versatile and packed with flavor. I like to serve it with chips for a classic dip or dollop on tacos for an extra kick.

I’ve lost count of the times I’ve served this cottage cheese dip to guests, and every time, they’ve raved about it and begged for the recipe. It’s incredibly satisfying to know that such an impressive dip can be whipped up with just 2 ingredients in less than 10 minutes.

I love its versatility – it can be customized to suit any palate and whatever ingredients you have on hand.

I much prefer using cottage cheese in dips over cream cheese. Besides being a high-protein source, it stays soft in the fridge, so your chips won't snap.

I have experimented with a bunch of different variations, but this one is my favorite combination:

    1 tablespoon chilli powder.

    1 teaspoon cumin powder

    ½ teaspoon paprika

    ¼ teaspoon onion powder

    ½ teaspoon garlic powder

    ½ teaspoon oregano

    1 teaspoon salt

    ½ teaspoon pepper

What to serve with taco dips

These options can be customized with additional toppings or garnishes like hot sauce, lime wedges, or chopped fresh herbs to enhance flavor.

    Classic dip with chips

Serve the dip with a side of tortilla chips, pita chips, or crunchy veggie chips.

    Veggie platter

Pair the dip with fresh-cut vegetables like carrot sticks, celery, bell pepper strips, cucumber slices, and cherry tomatoes for a light, colorful platter.

    Taco topping

Use it as a creamy topping for tacos, replacing traditional sour cream. It pairs well with beef, chicken, or vegetarian tacos.

    Mini stuffed peppers

Fill mini bell peppers or jalapeños with the cottage cheese taco dip for a bite-sized, flavor-packed appetizer.

    Baked potato topping

Spoon the dip over a baked potato or sweet potato for a protein-rich and zesty addition.

    Nacho layers

Use the dip as a layer in a nacho platter. Spread it over a bed of tortilla chips, add shredded cheese, jalapeños, and other toppings, then bake until melted.

    Wrap or sandwich spread

Spread the dip inside a wrap or sandwich to add a creamy, tangy, and flavorful element.

    Protein-packed breakfast

Serve the dip as a topping for scrambled eggs , egg flatbread or an omelet for a taco-inspired breakfast.

    Grain bowl

Add a dollop of the dip to a quinoa or rice bowl with black beans, corn, avocado, and salsa for a balanced and delicious meal.

    Lettuce wrap filling

Scoop the dip into large lettuce leaves, such as romaine or butter lettuce, and top with diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and a sprinkle of cilantro for a healthier taco alternative.

    Hanaa's recipe tips

After preparing the dip, let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This resting time allows the flavors to blend.

If the dip turns out too thick, gradually thin it by stirring in a small amount of milk or lime juice.

For an extra thick texture, consider mixing in a small amount of Greek yogurt or cream cheese.

    Storage instructions

Store leftovers in an airtight container with a lid and refrigerate for up to 3 days. To preserve its fresh flavor and fluffy texture, keep this cold dip chilled. Stir well before serving.

    Frequently asked questions

How can I make my cottage cheese taco dip creamier?

By blending the cottage cheese in a food processor or mixing it with cream cheese or Greek yogurt.

How do I prevent the dip from becoming watery?

Draining excess liquid from the cottage cheese, letting it rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes and avoiding watery toppings like overly juicy tomatoes can help.
